A lovely day to be on the river. Water was clear and 12C. Weather warm and sunny. There was very little fly life. A few LDOs came off at around noon, and one or two March Browns appeared an hour later. One helpful trout took a dry fly; a lean but fit fish of about 1.5lbs. Another fish had the temerity to spit out our offering. As there was little fly life, and rises could be counted on the fingers of one hand, we switched to nymphs. A superb fish of about 4lbs took a nymph in fast water and shortly after another nymph-eater of about 2lbs slipped off the hook at our feet. After that excitement; there was no more. The Crai looked delightful and had a multitude of sedges on the wing, but no fish showed any interest. A great day out with one epic fish to be long remembered.

Plenty of fly life on the surface but the fish were clearly feeding elsewhere, didn't see a moving fish all day.
Really nice stretch of water however. A shorter rod is preferable, especially above the confluence as the river is thoroughly overhung with trees.

Great beat, lots of leaves, red 12lb cock fish returned. Otter had been through top pools, so had someone before we got to them. However, great day out in lovely surroundings will return next season.

First time on this lovely beat. Overcast with sunny periods. AT 18C, WT 14C. River very low after prolonged dry weather. Not much moving. Some sedge and spinners around in later afternoon. Caught and returned 2 trout each @ 12 inch, one on parachute Adams and one on gold head ptn.

It was a hard fishing on this beautiful beat! We only had 3 fish between 2 of us, two on Dry and one on nymph. We saw plenty of rise but couldn't serve what they were hungry for as we didn't have more takes. The water was very clear and very slow at places. We have even met the landowner who has given us a bit of a history of the land and the river. Overall it was a great day out we should return again sometimes.

Beautiful beat, but challenging fishing on the day and we did well to catch 3 trout between us, the best to about 14". The scenery made up for the slow fishing.

Very sunny and water very low, plenty of fish moving but wouldn't take a fly or nymph, tried everything, to no avail.

Great day on this wonderful beat, a hot and sunny day with sign's of fish at around 12pm. 4 fish taken Czech nymphing with hares ear and 4 on Adams emerger. 2 big fish lost on snap off's with 4lb flouro tippet. I love the way they fight up there! All in all a top day! Biggest fish just shy of 3lb and the rest around the pound mark give or take. 2 cormorants by the bridge when I arrived!

We had originally booked Trallong & Abercamlais but on arrival we were surprised to find the river unfishable due to it running a red shade of chocolate! The WUF office agreed to implement the wash off policy and after some time investigating alternative beats we determined that it was the Senni which was bringing the silt into the main river so we booked Pantyscallog through the office which although coloured with peat was fishable.
Ultimately we had a good day with 8 trout coming to the net (best 16") and a similar number being on/off. Although most of the fish were taken on nymphs (some using the Czech style) there were some rising fish and a few were taken on the dry. The Crai (running very clear) yielded one fish but it was much more difficult to fish than the main river.
The main river did run off during the day and by 6pm was running clear with just a slight tinge of peat.

A bit disappointed that it didn't state on the website that this beat is right bank only. I didn't find this out until I had already booked. Being left handed this usually this wouldn't be a major problem, but with the high banks and tree canopy it made it virtually impossible for me to fish most of the water. 4 small fish to 8" at top of beat as the Crai joins the main river. Maybe giving a bit more detail on the beat description is required so paying anglers are getting the best out of there day.

WUF note - We have updated our website description. The booking confirmation beat notes received after placing a booking does confirm this is right bank only.
