Enjoyable day at the ‘Lucky Stone’ after navigating the precipitous path through the woods. River still very low but flow and pace through the river was very manageable. Circa 45 chub up to 4.5lbs. Catching from arrival to departure on a variety of baits including corn, meat and krill pellets but alas no Barbel to show for our endeavours.

Chub, chub, chub, I gave up counting! Two eels to break the sequence and no chub of any significant size, 4lb 4oz the biggest. Weather hot, river low and brown, banks overgrown.

River very low and coloured. Access to fishing pitches was non existent with high grass and foliage to waist height which we thought was pretty poor. The stretch owner could easily have strimmed and revealed the most obvious swims. It felt like you paid your day rate and good luck to you.! It was a minor landscaping clearance project just to get to the water safely. All in all a disappointing, hot and uncomfortable experience. Chub were varied in size with largest at around 4lbs. Majority on float using corn due to water levels being very low.

Huge rise in level due to more snowmelt, didn’t get the rods out! Will be back in the summer !

4 of us fished this beat for the first time. Conditions were tricky - cold and lots of debris in the water . That said, we all had a great days fishing and all caught, something we’d all have dealt on given the weather. All fish fell to feeder tactics close in the slacker water. Barbel around 7lbs. Chub around 4, one nearly 5lbs.

2 Barbel, 6 Chub
