First time on this stretch, initially fished the first swim by the hut. After a fishless two hours moved over the hill to d/stream of the woods. Caught throughout the afternoon and evening in a couple of different swims. All fish caught on pellets/PVA bag method. All fish between 3lb 8oz and 6lb 8oz apart from the best at 8lb 2oz.
Great day.

The river looked good with a bit of colour still in it, CH went into the woods and had 4 although lost lots of tackle, BT had 1 in the middle of the first field and I had 3 and a couple of chub from by the hut, thanks to the young lad who put me right later in the afternoon and rescued my day, all fish on the normal methods and bait, pellet feeder.

Not as prolific as we'd hope today.water levels low and very clear so always a challenge. Moved around to different swims and caught fish in each, but nothing spectacular. Was going to try last couple of hours on one of the croys, but someone was fishing opposite so tried a little bit away and although not confident ended up with a few bonus barbel. An enjoyable day.
Not as much wildlife as at Sugwas Court, but still a good showing of kingfishers, buzzards, bats, and an owl or two hooting.

River low and clear as expected. RB fished the top end, but didn't catch, despite trying three different swims over the course of the day. RW tackled the steep hill, and was rewarded with 10 barbel to 8lb 14oz, a 3lb chub and a 6lb pike all on mini oozing halibut flavour dumbbell pellets. Most of the action came in the last couple of hours.

Second day on this stretch. River falling with bright sunshine so not perfect conditions. We decided to try a bit of float fishing off some shingle at the end of the stretch, this was great until a salmon angler appeared in his 4x4 on the opposite bank. We were just discussing yielding to the salmon rod as we knew we should, when without even getting out of the car, he rang the ghillie and then parked up. He then took a photo of us fishing and told the ghillie we were spinning! My husband hooked a nice chub and then he told the ghillie we had just caught a salmon! After several attempts (he was too agitated to listen), we shouted across that we had caught a chub and were float fishing. "They are float fishing apparently" he said and with no further word (or apology) walked off. The ghillie (or farmer) then appeared in his car but he did not have the courtesy to speak to us either. It didn't spoil our day but it was disappointing that he was unable to tell the difference between a spinner and a float and a chub and a salmon. Very discourteous.

What a disappointing day. Walked over the hill and round back into the woods, fished opposite the line of rocks, water was running fast, looked so fishy. Had a couple of knocks but not a fish. After lunch moved back up to near the fishing hut, not even a bite. Never mind weather was good. Need a bit of colour in the water. Off to Upper Backney tomorrow.

Dry day and river running clear. Tried the wooded section first and had a few knocks but no true barbel bites so moved up to the field past the woods.
Had 1 barbel out, around 8lb, and lost 3 in the near bank weeds. All fish came within a 90 minute spell around midday. Moved to the first field by the fishing hut for the last couple of hours and had no bites whatsoever.
