Had a very enjoyable day on this beautiful beat. The river was very low, but coloured due to algae. Roved the whole stretch, mostly feeder fishing and took Chub in most swims, but Barbel just weren't interested.

Not wanting to fish in heavy rain after a hard and exhausting week, we only fished a short evening session in fast oxygenated water by the island. A tough week.

Nothing caught, fished only for a few hours due to very low water levels and oppressive heat. Unfortunately one of the penalties of booking in advance, better value to join one of the local clubs. Very serious concerns over the condition of this beautiful river.

Very hard fishing and water low, temp 30 degrees so hardly surprising we struggled between 3 of us to catch anything . Swims were difficult to get to, and there has been a fair bit of bank erosion making it dangerous in places now with under cut banks. The more accessible swims in the second field were not possible as the field has been booked out to the Caravan and Camping association.
Canoists a persistent problem, and some totally unaware of any code of conduct re pushing across to the other bank.
Hoping this will calm down later in the season and fish stocks haven't been affected.

Hottest day of the year on a low river. Couple of barbel from the fast water near the island about 11 am and 18 chub throughout the day . Lots seen on the surface near the steps - wish I’d had a loaf.
Ps there is a swim at the top end with steps - good access to the same fast water that’s at the bottom of the foy bridge boundary.

Really hard. No signs of bites until 7 o'clock and they was small chub. Sudden warm weather has knocked the fishing off I think. Searched the full stretch but it was a lovely day to be out. Only barbel seen was one floating down river struggling.
Fishing Passport Note: The distressed barbel could have been as a result of poor C&R technique or had just succumbed to the warm water temperatures and low oxygen levels. Either way, we ask that all anglers ensure fish are allowed to recover fully (either being held in the water or in a landing net) before being returned to the river.
