Similar day to yesterday apart from the Barbel not showing, although I missed the witching hour only to be disappointed by the football

First time fishing the Wye and happy to catch a couple Barbel between us up to 7lb. Plenty of sport from Chub throughout the day.

Chub on a feeding frenzy, even taking the bait on the drop with a feeder – had to wait until last knockings for the barbel to show

Lovely place, slow going plenty of swims

The other fish was an eel. Several of the chub were between 3 and 4 pounds

The Pulpit Pool is acclaimed to be a good spot to fish and is clearly shown on the maps and described in the accompanying notes but sadly there are no cut swims to allow safe fishing in this area, i.e. the top end of the boundary on the right bank. The whole of the left bank is in-accessible due to the fact that wading across would be perilous even in low water. It would be great to see a proper swim with wooden steps at the top end of the right bank making this pool accessible to anglers.

On a more positive note this is a beautiful location.

Struggled to find barbel on a hot low water day. Fish came to feeder and pellets from usual pegs.
