A toughie this afternoon on a mega low river ....Crystal clear too !!! Bowled up at the lovely Cammarch about half eleven and fished till half three .....
This time last year plenty of water in her, and careful fly presentation, and wading, and winkling out a dozen was fun ....Hard going today, but, i managed five to the net on dries ....Olive uprights on parade by one, along with a smaller sedge variety and i saw a couple of Brook duns too ....
The water clarity is staggering here ...glad I was using the six foot, one weight !!! Perfect on these skittish waters....
Lovely savage hits to my dries, in the rough water at the very head of pools, tight in to the bank too !!!
Solid smashes to the dry ...lovely...But, with the water so low, I think the decent trout are hunkered away !!!! Three days rain would be lovely.
I got out were the dust track from the chicken unit leads right to the river !!!!!!!
A huge area of chicken manure partly covered up in the field .... is that normal practice ?? Anyway, tis only 15o yards from the river ....surely run off enters the system from there ????
Anyway that's an NRW job not mine !!! ..... A great few hours on a shrunken Cammarch !!!
I think I'll tackle the Lugg and Arrow later in the week ... Both hold their water well . Looked like Mr.Heron was having a lean time of things , with the river so low and clear . Back here sooooooooooon, after a bit of rain, !!!!

Some large trout rising when we arrived. When we had worked out the solution which was a tiny F fly, the rise was nearly over but one good brown was taken around 1 3/4lb and 2 more lost due to the tiny fly.
We then went around to Frongoch and managed 2 rainbows and 3 more browns. These were on hares ear nymphs.
We felt that the directions to Rhosrydd could do with updating because the map supplied takes you to a gateway with a sign saying no access and nowhere to park. We walked down via a footpath only to find there is vehicle access and parking on a track not on the map, and the tiny AAA signage on the lane faces the wrong way so you cannot see it when you come in from the main road. Anyway we shall know this for another time.
