Last minute booking as river was at a great level for me and weather was glorious. Had to be the Creel, a magical serene place. I fished a plugged maggot feeder most of the day accounting for almost all the fish. Had Barbel upto 7lb and hard fighting Chub just over 4lb, lost a few big fish in the snags or rocks in the middle. I did get a few of the big Chub on balsa fishing maggot but the downstream wind did hinder presentation a bit. Absolute stunning Autumnal day. Wildlife as always included Herons, crazy Geese, Kingfishers, Red Kites and Kestrels. Been trying new swims this year here and having good returns. Look forward to my next visit soon. A wild and blustery day on a river running high. Proper Autumn fishing in spectacular surrounds and 6 Barbel to boot - went home happy

Back on the Creel for the final session of our 5 days on the Wye. Its proved to be a the best day yet with 49 barbel landed. The best fish weighing 11lb 9oz. We also had the pleasure of meeting the fishery owner.

Had to start at first light, while the river was still falling, for the best chance of a few fish. As soon as the river started rising again it all switched off. Hung around for sunset as there is always a chance, but for no more bites.
