7 x trout 6-16 inches, Silver Butcher, Grouse and Claret, Kate Maclaren. A windy day of dark cloud and showers. I saw very few fish break the surface and it was necessary to go looking for them, so I made a complete circumnavigation and fished about half of the shore. Eventually I found a bay at the bottom of the wind which seemed to have a small concentration of fish. A 16 inch trout was a very nice surprise; 10-11 inches is the more usual size. Very enjoyable - I only wish this one wasn't quite so far from Gloucestershire!

While I didn't manage to land a fish last Friday I had a very enjoyable day on the lake. I fished a team of wet flies for most of the 5 hours I fished along the access road bank. I did hook a nice fish around the 1.5lb mark which I got to the landing net only for it to shake the hook out at the last second. Also had 3-4 very fast takes as the flies landed/were high in the water. If anyone is visiting this week suggest you give dries/sunken dries a go as the very occasional fish was rising and there was a little fly life around.
This is a magical place, I fished as a kid, and I'll be back in 2017 - next time for a couple of days.
ps A couple of anglers were fishing the opposite bank and told me they had caught 3 fish earlier in the day on 'non descript' black wet flies.

Surprisingly tough day on Teifi pools.... spooked several cormorants working Egnant when we arrived, not a good sign. We tried here for a few hours. Absolutely nothing, not a sniff despite good conditions, and covering huge area of bank. Very few rises seen, and those were way out. Very unusual as this lake has fished well in the past. Over to Llyn Hir, again nothing no sign of life at all. This lake has lowest fish density and gin clear water, so we were not expecting a lot anyway. Over to llyn Teifi - by now wind and sunshine had picked up. I had 2 x trout 12 & 13 inch in a bay where wind was funneling in food, plus 3 other pulls. The other areas we fished were seemingly fishless. These lakes used to produce dozens of fish each visit for us 15 - 20 years ago, so not sure if it was an off day or something has happened to fish numbers. Looking at previous reports experiences have been similar.

Fish rising far out in the lake in the evening. Too far to reach. Nothing caught.

The directions given are wildly inaccurate! Wasted an hour until asked directions, which in the end were quite straightforward.
Weather was against me I'm afraid. More like beach weather!Bright sun all day. No sign of fish. Fantastic location and bird life.
WUF Note: We are looking into the directions. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Directions were totally wrong, searched for an hour. After ending up at a farmhouse we asked the landowner and he soon had us on our way.(2nd right after bridge and follow signs). Absolutely stunning and didn't see another soul all day. Miles from anywhere in the mountains. Fishing was difficult as it was a very hot day. Fish started to rise as I was leaving(needed to go long before sunset as was an extremely remote area). None caught but a brilliant day in a place I felt privileged to be.
