Difficult conditions. Cold westerly gusting across the lake. Fished all the way round without a touch and only saw one fish rise. Luckily, George Barron was on hand to point us in the direction of Llyn Hir which was a 200yd walk away. Delighted to catch two lovely brownies, one of which was over a pound.

The weather was almost perfect. Slight breeze, sun and cloud and a temperature in the late teens. First time on a Llyn, so walked around a bit to find the best looking areas. Fish were rising every now and again and there was lots of insect life about. I even met a water vole on the bank.
I had one good bite on Egnant, but missed the take. Moved around to Teifi and walked to the furthest point from the dam and got into a decent trout using a butchers wet fly (red and black). Plenty of bites after that during the afternoon, but no more landed.

A three hour drive for me, but well worth it. Beautifully peaceful up there. I shall return and possibly try Hir.

Very, very hot. Wet wading was comfortable, which must be very rare in the Cambrians. 2 good sized fish on dries. Missed lots of splashy takes. Plenty of fish rising in spite of blistering sun and barely a ripple. I planned to stay through the evening but thick clouds of flying ants drove me away. I suspect the fishing at dusk would have been the best of the day.

Tried everything with no success until there was a nice rise about 2 o'clock down by the dam , there was a tiny red fly hatching , put one on and bang ,a lovely 1lb brownie take it , which made a very slow day very enjoyable ,

Fantastic few hours fishing, must of caught it just right, fish were reacting to everything that landed on the water, bibio, coch y bonddu and a black Pennell doing most of the damage.
