River was low and had a little colour, very sunny day and struggled for bites. One pike nearly landed on dead bait early, nice 5lb chub saved the blank for one of us caught on pellet.. Packed up at 2.30pm as we all had too much sun. Lovely day to enjoy the river and peacefull surroundings, thank you Ian for meeting us early on your day off.

Rough day with gale force winds and heavy rain on and off. Walked the whole length of both banks, dropping deadbaits into all the pikey looking slacks. Had 3 pike, 18lb 8oz and 2 15 pounders, all in mint condition and fighting fit.

River lower and clearer than previous visits. Fished beats 3+4 with maggot meat and cheese paste. NR took 1 chub from beat 4 while I manged 1 chub late in the afternoon from beat 3 to save the blank.

A puzzling trip. I found a falling river, with nice colour, mild air and good cloud above. Surely the chub would be biting but no, not a nibble despite trying everything I could think of. The flood debris in the field was a reminder of how wild the river can be. I didn't fall in but the bull on the far bank did, toppling from a crumbling cliff of silt and sand. He survived the dip and was comforted by his ladies.

15 chub on meat and cheese paste. River was about 2' higher than previous visits but clear. Next time we fish this beat we will defiantly take maggots, I think it could be even better. Also average size of fish were bigger than other visits, most 4-5lb.

What a remarkable stretch to fish, inclusive of two storey accommodation (some fishing hut )I also managed a sixteen pound pike which was still in summer condition, took a pike shaped plug immediately after hitting the surface on around the tenth cast just downstream of the lodge, wonderful condition beautiful markings. A truly great place to fish definitely be back soon.
