The river looks a bit more healthier upstream but no weed! Weather hot and river low and clear.
2 Anglers fished beat 4 and didn't register a bite! 2 Anglers on beat 2 with marginally better results.
All fish caught were small Chub float fished on the centre pin which as always a great way to fish.

River still low and neading rain. Started off on beat 2 on the bottom of the rapids but only had one small chub. Moved around the bend at 2.00 too a deep pool nearly opposite the Boatman pub, and by 5.30 had had 1x 4lb barbel and 4 small chub on small pieces of luncheon meat, between us. Canoes ok in morning but busy in afternoon. Had a couple of salmon jumping right out of the water in front of us! Will have another go in the winter as this area looks very pikey!

Float fished in shallow pools for small chub whilst waiting for the light to go. Switched to large slugs and fished fast runs between sunken rocks to take decent 3lb fish towards dusk.

Nice days fishing at a beautiful location. Fished at the end of beat 4 but not much action, a couple of bites on the ledger off luncheon meat but nothing really on the float. The lad caught two minnows on his whip so did not blank. Weather was hotter than expected and with the water level below normal likelly that just an off day.

Beautiful day to be beside the river with your mates but fishing wise hard going with bright sunshine & low water conditions. We all enjoyed watching the fledgeling sandmartins flying out of their burrows, doing a quick circuit & scrambling back up the bank face into their nests only to pop out for more practice a few minutes later; The anxious or maybe excited parents flying overhead in great flocks twittering away. Plenty of very busy kingfishers whirring up & down as well.

The 'other' was unusual! We have all heard of wildlife being 'hooked' other than fish that is. Bats whilst casting a fly in the evening, waterbirds when using crust baits, seagulls when sea fishing & even rats whilst leaving an unattended hookbait beside a pond where there's a lot of disguarded baits. But my friend was reeling in what he thought might have been a small barbel , when 2 or 3 feet from the bank up through the water came a squirrel hooked firmly in the upper lip. He said it took some umbridge at being un hooked.

A very de-stressing day followed by a lovely evening as the sun set.

Thanks WUF as usual.
