Fished Dolmeudwy and the Orchard late pm at 2ft 10ins approx. Water clearing but lots of leaves and general debris evident. Saw a salmon head and tail mid-stream in lower Dolmeudwy and a one jump lazily at the start of the Orchard. Mid-Orchard a salmon then made a surface lunge quite aggressively for my Ally tube, made serious contact and pulled line but then pinged off. Fished the pool down a second time with a different fly but had no more sightings or contact. By then the light failing and atmosphere becoming cold.

No fish caught or seen. The river had too much colour for my liking, but the height was ok. It was odd, not to see any travelling fish at the Home Catch, as the fish normally show themselves in this pool. Be that as it may, I enjoyed myself.

Water was high and dirty, but first time on the river fishing for salmon, so too keen not to fish tried a couple of fishy looking spots, if there is such a thing in that much water. Then bumped into a guy from Cardiff way fishing at the gutter, who was very helpful, explained how to fish the gutter when the water is good, told me to try lower down. Tried down by the church/ chapel, to my surprise a coloured hen fish of 11.6 lbs took my offering and made me a very happy man. First time salmon fishing on the Wye and rewarded with my first fish !!!!. Let the blank days begin ????.
Also thanks to Chris at sportfish for his help.

Funny old day! Water perfect Height and clarity. Nothing seen or touched. Quick trip to Brecon A&E (who were superb) as my father gave a side 8 Bann the thumbs up (literally) and returned to a coloured rising river.
