Second day on this beat in a week. 2 very good sized chub on pellet feeder and hair rig luncheon meat.
1 decent barbel caught using pellet feeder and Hair rig pellet. River was low flow with little colour. Hot sunny day. Great beat will come again. Thank you Wye and Usk Passport fishing. ????????

I caught 6 decent chub on feeder and hair rig pellet throughout the day.
My brother caught 5 chub on the same method. No barbel.
River conditions were very good with a bit of colour and flow. Later in the afternoon proved difficult for fishing due to a lot of human activity, loud music and swimming on the opposite bank. Overall a great well kept beat.

That was a very long hot summer's day (24 C), fished 5:00am to 11:30am, with the sun coming on strong from 7:00am. River level gauge at Mordiford recording - 0.75m high as of 4:00am Tuesday 23/06/20.

Started fishing the lower end rapids (The Pot) and caught 5 chub (ranging between 3 - 4.5lbs) on luncheon meat over a hemp / pellet / luncheon meat / groundbait filled feeder. Sun came up, no more fish showed, moved pegs.

Moved to The Bend / The Pipe (the one under the big tree). Mugged an eel, a barbel (circa 5lbs) and a small chub within the first four casts on the feeder. No further fish showed after that, so decided to pack up and head for home.

Met Monty as I left site, who suggested that the upper end rapids (The Island / The Crib) may be the better choice to have fished at present (with apparently Friday's visitors catching their barbel from these pegs; a smoother flowing glide of oxygenated water coming off the rapids). Hindsight's a wonderful thing!

Nonetheless, a great day's fishing on one of my favourite stretches of the River Wye, not least for the variety of animals and birds also present. On arriving at The Pot, the resident otter was not amused that I was there, disturbing his early morning feed. Without concern, he slowly cruised past me on his back, and down my swim as he left.

Will be back soon.

Tight Lines all.

What a great place to fish! Monty the owner is so helpful and provided great advice. We had all our barbel and chub on pellet feeder. Fished 8am til 2pm. The best beat to fish on the wye and usk ticket.
Thanks Monty. Will be back.

First time on this beat. Started during adverse weather conditions, met with the bailiff on arrival who pointed us in the right direction. This is a beautiful beat and feeder tactics rewarded us with a decent haul. We will return and look forward to exploring the beat further.

River had dropped about 3m from the height of the flood, but was still at or above platform level on this well-kept beat. I decided to give it a go anyway as this was the last day of fishing here this year. I think cold flood water for days on end had put the barbel off, but a pleasant day by the river just the same. Chub about two and a half pounds. The "other" was a dace.

River still well up on a wet and very windy day. Three and a half hours in the afternoon brought 2 barbel, around 6 and 7lbs and three chub up to 4lbs. All on feeder and pellet.
