A pleasant day with the river a fishable height at last, 2’3 at 10.00 am dropping a couple of inches through the day to when I packed up at 7.00pm. Clearing nicely.
A couple of trout and a few OOS fish . There were a lot of small grayling in the middle of the beat today.
All of the salmon pools had a good fish through but nothing seen.

River was high but fairly clear. A cold wind coming down the valley and zero fly hatches, so I resorted to euro nymphing which only produced a few parr which promptly shook off the barbless flies. I guess we need lower water levels and warmer temperatures before the season kicks off.

River clear and a nice height, 0.4 on Abernant gauge. 1 small brown on a march brown para during a small hatch of March browns. The hatch lasted about 5 minutes, 4-5 fish rising but then nothing again. Managed to rise another but didn't connect. Another brown on nymphs and lost another in the same pool.

Style in serious need of repair and no Style to cross last fence with barbed wire.

Two small 10 inch trout for me today, lost two others, mainly due to poor line control. Weather was cloudy with sunny intervals and little wind, river running a little coloured and fast. A difficult day, as the only fish I found were in some very fast water, wading was tough due to to the very strong flow. I had to use very heavy nymphs to get down fast enough, even so the drifts were very short.

Cold downstream wind - did not see a rise all day. Several takes on spiders, but only one small grayling netted. Switched to a streamer late on and netted a fine trout c. 1 lb, so left feeling better!

Rather quiet day, with high water and just a few grannoms about and little rise. Cool westerly breeze didn't help. French nymphing was fairly successful, but nothing over 12 inches. Couldn't get to the island, where normally one would skip across in gumboots, though I tried!
