Covered those pools still fishable with the fly with no takers & nothing seen.Reverted to trout rod afterwards as there was pretty constant movement to emerging nymphs all day.One reasonable grayling. Was never going to be a battery recharging day :lost my wallet on the way over which I only discovered at the garage after filling the truck up with diesel.Fortunately some very kind & honest person handed it in at the last place I'd stopped. After arriving slightly later than anticipated I promptly fell/slid down a rock whilst wading & filled my waders!Still would'nt want to be anywhere else on a day off! Thanks WUF for the opportunities.

So tried again, on my own, some of the techniques I'd learnt yesterday and not very successfully initially. Switched to clink and dink but the fishing gods were having none of it. Then tried some indicator nymph fishing and took a frisky brown.
Fished the fast water at the top of the beat using the indicator method in the late afternoon. Picked up 4 salmon parr and a nice grayling. Hard work and hard wading. Missed loads of takes. Water depth varies so much with rocky bottom, getting snagged was a regular event, but the fish were there. Managed not to fall over which was a feat in itself. Much more exhausting than my usual fishing. However previously I wouldn't have attempted wading that sort of water. I guess I just need more practice.

Had a day with Kim Tribe on euro nymphing. Wow. It's hard work and it hurts quite quickly. Very different! Well I mostly wasn't quick enough but got better as the day wore on. The concentration is tiring alone not to mention your arm feels like it's gonna drop off in next to no time. I couldn't believe how close to you the technique fishes. Getting everything right is tricky especially the timing so you stay in touch with, but don't pull your flies. And getting the heavy fly right, so you get down. The takes are lighting fast. Moving in and out and gradually up the river too - I'm sure you get faster as you get better at it.
The other interesting thing for me was fishing all the fast sections that I thought were for white water rafting. Trying to stand up was a challenge in itself. The wading is tricky in these sections and I was glad I fitted studs in my boots prior to the trip. You'll need to have good balance and to be fit if you've not done much of it before.
Lost a very good fish that swam straight at me at the lower end of the beat in a hole in what I'd call rapids! As Kim said, it didn't get that big by being stupid!
Several grayling, a couple of smallish browns and a handful of salmon parr - now I know how to identify them!
Did some indicator fishing too which was great on those fast sections. Quite a few fish lost.

The river seemed to be in good order for salmon fishing, clear and a reasonable height but not even a tug today

Beautiful stretch of river, caught most of the fish on nymphing and couple on a dry. Wading was relatively easy. I would definitely return in the future.

River high making for a tough but enjoyable day. Czech Nymphing and didn't want to risk wading too far so limited. Plenty of takes though but fishing barbless failed to connect with many.

I've fished here a few times in the past and I'll be fishing here again.
