Arrived at 8 and it was very, very hot! Water level very low but that still means plenty of water on this beat. Fished the long tail towards the bottom of the beat where it sweeps over towards the far bank under the trees and shade. Fished a nymph under a Klink , not takers for the Klink , 2 trout around 10 oz one handsome Grayling about a pound. Various things hatching during the day , no fish showing any interested in them. Sweated my way back up the river for no result, finished up around 2. Probably a good day for an evening rise .
Stopped for a pint at the Griffin to find it all boarded up !

The conditions for fishing were pleasant with a reasonable flow of clear water. I did see one fish moving upstream but apart from a tentative tug, probably from a trout, it was a quiet first day out for me.

River conditions were clear and low, but a good hatch of olives created some interest, however upstream nymphing with a GHHE was the most successful method and superbly conditioned fish took well and fought hard before being returned back to the water.
A beautiful stretch of water, had I been more in tune with my fishing I think I could have easily doubled my catch!

Desperately low water levels. Hard fishing but managed a reasonable catch given conditions. Very little fish moving.

What a beautiful day.........for sun worshippers!!! After a stroll along the first part of the beat, and seeing the level so low (only 3" on the guage),it was decided the salmon rods would stay in their tubes, and the weapon for the day would be the trout rods. The only 3 fish for the day came in the first hour, one being a grayling of about 1 1/2lb, then the sun got up, and an upstream wind picked up, and we couldn't buy another take. The successful fly was a gold shrimp #12. Still a cracking beat though!

Low water conditions, caught almost all fish in the most oxygenated water in faster streams. I used French nymphing technique, all fish caught on nymphs, average size 10-12 inches. Not any single rise to a dry fly. Beautiful pièce of water, I will be back!

river low with very little flow, french nymphed faster water with all fish caught in the most oxygenated water. trout to twelve inches and grayling to 13 inches. very frustrating day there were ldo's drifting down all the feeding lanes and only a couple of very splashy rises to them. the nymphs were fished about a foot under the surface where in the clear water you could see grayling intercepting emergers . still a cracking beat to fish
