Water low, hot sunny day. Had a few pulls, 3 small trout, some better fish seen in the clear water! Threw everything at them, will try again. Had a great day in wonderful place.

3 Trout

The river was very low but the rain on Friday must have stirred a few fish up because I lost what I think was a grilse (or very big trout) in the morning and annoyed a much larger resident fish (quite red) in the early evening.
On both occasions I was fishing a shrimp pattern size 12 in in Gravelly Pool.
A promising start to my season.

2 Trout

Found this beautiful stretch in perfect condition after a little rain, which put a little colour into the flow. A stunning beat which you could fish for days on end. Caught a lot of small trout and grayling on weighted nymphs and found it hard work to find the bigger fish. Not a huge amount rising so persisted with the nymphs which when fished hard on the bottom did pick up the better fish. Biggest being a grayling of just over a pound.
The beat is well maintained and we will return. One little issue was a family walking their dogs along the beat, dogs were running free and out of control, ate our lunch which was on the bank and constantly barked for an hour!

6 trout up to 1lb between us. No sign of any salmon.

All trout were under 8 inches; the largest grayling was approximately 1lb. All fish safely returned. All but one fish taken on nymph; one trout taken on Iron Blue size 18 dry fly.
Directions to beat were excellent.

Excellent evening but sadly no fish.

Lost a brawling fish of maybe 15 lbs in Lower Bachaway. Broken - ashamed to say it had to do with a dropper and a rock!

Caught 2 trout on dry fly about 25 and 35cms. Very few fish rising throughout the day.

Nice day hard going. 2 trout both on Parachute Adams.
1 from near the lodge, the other off the planks at bottom of beat.
Stayed at Trericket Mill, Erwood. Perfect little bunkroom.
Walk across the road to Gromain /just up the road from
Ty-Newydd.

2 Trout

River a perfect height (1' 8" Llanstephan), allowing access to all areas of the beat without those heart-in-mouth wading moments. Warm and bright,precious little fly life or rises until about 7.30pm when fish started to show for about half an hour.
16 wbt to about 12" and 2 out of season grayling, all but two to nymphs. All returned.
2 or 3 very large salmon in the pool up steam from the parking area gave a resounding aerial display late afternoon.
Very good beat if you wish to fish as a group, plenty of room for 4 or 5 rods and a nice terrace for lunch.
