A difficult but enjoyable days fishing. Sharp downstream breeze a low river & Bright conditions made it challenging. The grayling caught were good fish up to 11/2lb M J lost a very good fish also after a prolonged fight. Trout were quite small.Very few fish moving. Nevertheless we enjoyed ourselves. It really is a very nice beat & a stunning location. Would like to come back when conditions more favourable. Small nymph & small dry BWO did the damage.

Windy day making conditions a little tricky for any upstream fishing. Slow start after a cold morning. Fish more active in the afternoon and early evening. Couple of grayling about 35cm. Trout 20-25cm. 22 adult/adolescent goosander in the bathing pool!

Caught on GRHE and black F-fly. Most fish small, only one wbt and grayling required the net. Fish in excellent condition and returned safely.

Perfect weather - light breeze and a little sun. Water level low but with plenty of access to good runs and pools. However no rising fish till afternoon and then just minute tiddlers. I have yet to catch a grayling this season when normally they would be rising everywhere. Where have they gone! When we arrived a flock of mergansers - about 16-18 - took off. I have noticed these ducks on nearly all my trips to the Wye this year, as well as on my local stream the Rea. Could these fish eaters be the source of predation since they are especially fond of salmonids? Will try the Irfon next time!

A blessedly overcast but warm day, with the water warmish at 16 degrees, and holding 6 inches on the local guage. As per OB's report from just downstream at P-y-F, the grayling were in obliging mood with 25 fish taken before 5pm. Not much fly all day - just a few yellow mays, some sedges and a few small olives. Some fish rose off and on but were mainly oncers, and most fish that were caught were non-risers, including the small trout and parr. All fish taken on a small dark olive emerger. Thought of trying spiders and nymphs, but given recent experiences at Abernant and Doldowlod, it seemed unnecessary to change, on the principle that if it works for now, don't fix it! Grayling of 10, 12 and 14" well represented so, as usual, better year-class succession in prospect here compared with further up at Doldowlod.

Unless you count chucking out a feeder for Barbel, my first day's fishing on the Wye. Crikey, it's a bit different to the Lugg. Fishing a team of spiders, I picked up the odd Grayling in most of the runs/glides I fished before latching onto a pod of fish in a non-descript looking piece of water just upstream of the Bachawy. Some quality fish. Somewhat surprisingly, no Trout - but a handful of Salmon Parr. Tres bonne.

River in good condition and fished well. All brown trout were fairly small but grayling were a good size - best around 2lb. Caught on nymphs and dry flies (goldhead PTN, GRHE and CDC olives). All fish returned in good condition.

We didn't start until well into the afternoon but soon found some grayling on deep nymphs. However there was soon an excellent rise and we caught lots of fish klink and dinking with the dry fly doing most of the catching. At times it was as many as six takes to get one hook up. Immensely enjoyable until the rain came at about 6pm and put the fish down and us off. Of course we both had excellent wading jackets - in the car. A great afternoon.

Good conditions being overcast and warm. We saw a few fish rising, a lovely beat, more water than we could fish in the day. We caught 9 small wbt, the largest being around 9 inches. All fish returned.
