Steady trickle of large dark olives for most of the day with stronger burst between 11 and 12-30pm and then again from 2pm to 3pm, during which trout rose steadily. The river was higher and more coloured than I expected from checking the Brecon camera before setting out but dropped off to a nice height in the afternoon while retaining a bit of colour. The best trout landed was 15" but twice on a weighted nymph and team of spiders fishing across and down much bigger trout were on for a minute before shaking the hook. At this water height the rest of the week could provide amazing fishing, if only I could stay for more.

2x wbt, perhaps both anglers were a little sharper today but still managed to miss and prick many of the snappy rises.

The path to get to the top of this beat is a hard slog, the river is looking good but, I only saw one fish rise and caught nothing. Local chat with people who live near report two otter families, one near the bridge at the bottom of the stretch and another apparently at the top......... not good for our community at all.

Great conditions but not much activity other than during a 15 minute spell around 1pm during a hatch of LDOs, where there were numerous rises to a Kite’s Imperial with one fighting fit fish brought to hand. Thereafter it went quiet. Although this is a lovely beat and a favourite of mine I’m not sure that with this season’s price rise it still represents good value for money.
