Blustery, odd light rain. Fish slow to rise in morning, but woke up later in the day.Took eleven w.b.t. between us, with 2 at 1.lb, 3 at 3/4.lb, and the rest small. Shook off many more, and no shortage of rising fish playing hard to get!

Weather mild and cloudy. River showing its bones. Fished top beat a.m. Little rising. Just 2x 8" trout and some salmon parr to small beaded usk naylor pattern. Fished lower section p.m. Two types of mayfly hatching sporadically at 4pm approx. Mainly ephemera danica and a few poss. e.vulgata. Caught 2 more small ones then 2 x 1 1/4lbs on large grey mayfly emerger. Good sport in wonderful surroundings. Will be back. Many thanks to WUF and Glanusk staff.

Despite an overcast day and low water I decided to only use dry flies. The scenery is spectacular here and as I set up among banks of bluebells watching a kingfisher, I just could not help myself tying on a dry fly. I fished the lower beat in the morning and rises were very sparse. Despite this I managed to persuade two wild trout of 10-12 inches to rise and come to hand before release. The low water meant I could wade through the whole of the bottom section, and I had great fun. Just before the 2pm beat changeover rises started appearing but it was time for me to drive to the upper beat. Simply beautiful, but the very sparse rises were very difficult to cover in an unhelpful breeze and I only added one fish for my trouble. I planned to fish into the evening but late afternoon the rain came in and the gloom over Sugar Loaf, the rumble of distant thunder and a distant crackle in the air convinced me to end a very enjoyable day. I would certainly have caught more fish using wet flies, but my intention had been simply to go fishing today - rather than to just catch fish.

A lovely day on a charming beat, but the fishing was challenging due probably to low water and bright sun. Only 3 small trout (less than 1/2 lb each) caught (and returned). All caught on nymphs (pheasant tail and non-specific Czech nymphs). One decent fish (probably 1 or 1 1/2 lbs was played for a brief time and lost). Very few fish were rising, despite a huge hatch in the late afternoon/early evening. Dry flies were tried without success.

Another cracking day. The fishing was hard work again. Morning spent on the lovely upper beat, regret not spending longer exploring this section of the river because it looks extremely fishy. My friend and I caught a number of small Trout (less than 6inches) with only one sizeable fish lost by my friend. Afternoon was more successful, I had 5 nice brownies of around 1lb or so and my friend had one of a similar size on a dry in the evening. Good evening rise but the fish were reluctant to take our offerings! Many thanks again.

Bright and very hot day, very low river conditions for the time of year. Lots of black gnat evident and the odd olive.
A number of stock fish happily rising on the flats above the bridge, but little else willing to brave the sunny weather.

About a dozen fish to a pound taken on small nymps and occasional dry griffiths gnat.

8 browns to about a pound and a bit all on a dry fly and rose probably two or three times that number. Had rising fish to cast to practically all day with multiple hatches. Beautiful warm sunny day with bluebells, whitebells, violets, primroses and celandine all along the banks.
Thank you and thank the estate for me please.

Caught and released two brown trout 10" above bridge on Hornet Oak beat to New Zealand style klinkhammer and nymph, and a third smaller trout to a gold head nymph below bridge fishing upstream wets. A lot of varied fishing to explore and I would like to come back and try again later this year.
