Two nice browns of about a pound both on an olive nymph, both returned. One or two rising fish in the afternoon in the smoother, deeper water but no response to a dry fly.
A beautiful spring day - very enjoyable.

Two browns - one just under a pound and one about 3.5 pounds or even more. Both taken on an olive nymph, both returned. A trickle of LDOs about lunch time but no rises and generally hard going.

1 x Trout ~ 1Lb - returned. No salmon / Grilse seen or felt. Top half of fishery is lovely, bottom half - more difficult access.

Fantastic day on a lovely beat. No salmon for me, although I saw a great coloured fish jump, and felt like I was in with a chance all day. I did have a couple of nice browns on a small Ally's shrimp fly, which I released.

Total 8 - all returned. Mostly small trout. Largest ¾lb, 1lb and 1lb 2oz. Most caught on nymphs. Only fished the evening - 8pm on. Good rise but mostly v. small fish.

Arrived about 11am. Overcast warm and still – Perfect! No fish rising, fished the fast water below the church. Fished GBHE nymphs New Zealand style. Got 2 fish about 8 inches and nice fish about 12 inches. Some fish rising in the dead water on the rh side, couldn’t interest them in anything.

Moved down to the faster water at the bottom of the beat. Got four fish 10 -12“. Two took the nymph, two took the klink, a big pink job. Lost a further two.

Waited until the evening, fished the tail of the fast water at the bottom stretch, fish rising from about 8 ish, tried a few flies without success until I tried a Tupps, then started to get takes, unfortunately didn’t manage to land any. Enjoyed the company of Steve, another Wye and Usk customer during the day

7 browns up to about one and a half pounds. All on dry fly, all returned.

7-8 trout and hooked and lost as many again, nearly all on a dry fly. Best was a shade over 2 lbs. All returned. Thanks.

My second day at Glanusk was as enjoyable as the first, sunny with less cloud than on Monday. I had six fish, once again all around the pound mark, taken on various nymphs and the dry sedge: the best of them a perfect trout with rosy spots on its flanks and a belly like a golden beast-plate. I took two fish home to present to the owners of the farm where I was staying. They were very much enjoyed. Glanusk is a magical place: many thanks to all concerned.
