Attractive river with excellent pools - those nearest the road used by locals for recreational purposes.

Blazing sun all day. One fish on Griffith Gnat and one lost on swap nymph. Lots of Black Gnat and Olives hatching but few rising. Four lads swimming in Bridge Pool scuppered the day!

Techniques - Dry fly and Dry fly with Nymph dropper

Fishing was slow going but outstanding environment, had a great day with 6 fish in total and 1 3.5lb wild brown from bridge pool which made the day.

Wild passport is amazing and looking forward to using more. Would be good if it can be expanded into North Yorkshire rivers and streams.

Blustery day. Very sparoxic hatches. When hatch on a fish rose here and there. Water dead by 15.30.

Cruel N.East wind and broken sunshine on a low river. Lovely beat with a variety of pools, runs & flats. Didn’t see any rising fish until midday. Good hatch of March Browns in the sunshine along with some LDO’s . Fished duo and nymphs early on then switched to dry as fish started to rise. Landed 4 and lost 2 good fish on dries, one on a March Brown spider. Challenging day but good fishing.

Overcast today with a glimpse of sun at about 11 am, little wind. Fished jig nymphs and caught 3 Grayling , best was a large hen fish in beautiful condition.
A few Large Dark Olives hatching from midday. River very clear and cold, probably snowmelt from the moors.

Challenging , but a great day.

3 Grayling
