A really fantastic beat. No surprise why it is booked most of the time! A bit cold in the morning. We feared a slow day but we were catching fish between 8 and 2pm. The surprise was that the fishing stopped after 2pm which was the warmest part of the day. All fish caught on meat and pellets.

Warm sunny day, with an occasional light breeze, river running clear. Beautiful day out on the river, lots of chub (I lost count) and some bonus barbel too.

River was in good nick and conditions favourable for March. One other angler fishing , who had fished the fishery quite a lot.
Decent amount of swims with good variety and good accessibility. Ledger tactics with meat and maggots accounted for some nice chub but no barbel. Other were 2 great condition trout. Other angler caught about 4 or 5 chub
Arrival of bailiff with multiplier spinning outfit, spinning though my swim was a bit unusual but not totally surprising. He was a decent chap.

My first chub was just shy of 5lbs so that was a great start. But I struggled after that until the late afternoon when the chub seemed to switch on again. No barbel - I think the water was still too cold after so many nights of frost. Very easy fishing here with lots of accessible swims and few steep banks.

The river has been very high recently but was dropping nicely so I was hoping for good things. Sadly the day started with a temperature of minus 2 and every puddle frozen. It soon warmed up, but that freezing start was enough to put the barbel off. Two good chub on luncheon meat meant I didn't blank.

River in flood today and tricky to find fishable slack water but managed to get one 7lb barbel from the North bank on spam using feeder. Nothing on other baits. Levels were falling through the day but the island at the eastern end remained cut off throughout.

No fishing. No fish. River completely burst it's banks and was flowing across the fields. Courtesy of Storm Bert.
