A good day for both of us catching consistently throughout the day. The Chub came to trotted or feeder fished maggot. The Barbel did not feed as freely as they have previously on this beat for us, but took feeder fished pellets. River was low and clear with the sun shining for most of the day. All in all a very enjoyable day.

River was well up on Sunday after all the rain on Saturday with a lot of rubbish coming down the river which made it near on impossible to fish plus it was brilliant sunshine, very warm so not ideal conditions. First day and could not get any where near the bottom swims as the river was well over the bank. Monday was a lot better with the river having dropped a foot. Still could not get to the bottom swims as the river was still over the bank and too dangerous but had a very good day in the other swims and looking forward to our next visit.

The river was partly over the cribs which provided some nice "crease" swims. Found the fish by moving around several times, in between the heavy rain. Heavy feeders again and pellets for the barbel (and 1 eel) and some chub on sweetcorn. A nice but wet day.

River at a good level and weather good. After the long walk to the end of the fishery, had a very good day. Though the last swim very snaggy.
Caught fish throughout the day. Usual method of feeder tactics and pellet. Fish caught, 25 Chub up to 4.5lb and 20 Barbel up to 9.00lb. Very good day and thanks to the WUF

Another great day on this beat. The water was quite low for the time of year which made accessing the end swim by the island easy.We spent the morning session at that end of the beat and caught regularly, mainly chub but some barbel, and the average size was very impressive. We also decided to try some other swims in the afternoon which yielded a couple of nice barbel off a groyne in mid section.
An hour at the end of the afternoon back at the island produced more barbel rather than the dominant chub.
The biggest barbel was 8lbs 10ozs and the best chub 4lbs 12ozs.
Such a lovely section of river and abundant wildlife (I think I disturbed an otter or otherwise it was the biggest rat in the world) on a very warm September day. Wonderful.

Another great day on this exceptional beat. The river was quite low for this time of year giving us access to the end beat on the island. The fish came steadily throughout the morning, mainly chub but a few barbel, but the average size of the fish was amazing. In the afternoon we tried some other swims and caught a couple of nice barbel from the groyne in the midsection. I returned to the island for the last hour or so and caught more barbel. It was a lovely autumn day in the sunshine with abundant wildlife (I saw my first otter or otherwise it was the biggest rat in the world!!
The best chub was 4lb 12ozs and the biggest barbel scaled 8lbs 10ozs A lovely day to be out and well worth the long walk.

Overcast all day but no rain. River slightly high. Caught from several different swims on feeder and pellet.

With the river up over a metre, the barbel proved to be a little elusive although chub knocked away at our pellet baits and occasionally attached themselves to the hook. We were restricted to the top end of the beat and had the frustration of a lot of weed coming down.

Another fantastic day on a beautiful beat that is well kept by the legend Colin.
We went to our usual swim in the hope that the river level didn't mean that it was pushing through too much. On first glance we thought we were going to have to rethink our game plan as the river was pushing through but we decided to give it an hour and see what happened.
First cast with a 2oz lead saw it bounce straight round into the nearest snag it could find whereas 3oz seemed to hold just fine. We then started to pick off barbel and chub regularly throughout the day.
A brilliant day made even better when Colin came to see us and have a good natter. Lots of kingfisher action with one sat on a tree opposite in full sun for at least 20mins.
