Nice conditions, bit of flow, colour and most importantly the dogs/canoes/swimmers/paddlers/campers all behaved themselves and allowed uninterrupted fishing. Managed to land 4 barbel of the 7-9 lb size on a standard feeder method
lost another 3 , 2 due to snags and 1 dropped the hook. a small chub and a fat eel made up the rest. a good day out in
nice surroundings.

A beautiful day but a blank. The guys on the syndicate beat on the opposite bank had the best of it!! A beautiful and huge stretch of the river but quite difficult to fish as a coarse fisherman. The beach at the lower end of the beat seemed the most likely but sadly not even a knock today.

2 rods blanked and the other were still catching when we left, 1 rod caught all day spread out and the other caught from 7 onwards. The lowest I have seen this stretch and I have been fishing the great wye for a while.

A fairly tough day due to bright conditions and a low river. Winkled out a few chub throughout the day before the barbel fed after 7pm.

Same scenario as the 24th June, but with the bonus of no (human) swimmers in the faster water. This time the barbel in the evening was 7lb 4oz, and one of the hardest fighters I have ever caught. All the fish this year have been in perfect condition, and the river is full of fry, so the long dry spell does not so far seem to have impacted the coarse fish. However, it is noticeable that far fewer salmon are leaping this year, on the Wye in general.

Caught in the cloudy conditions early in the day. When the sun came out over the very clear river, the barbel ran for cover!
