Best days river fishing of my life fishing Caradoc. Easy to find, great access, beautiful stretch of river. Fishing here for 2 days, We started down at the end of the stretch & quickly caught a small chub on meat, which was soon followed by a 3lb 12oz chub on feeder & pellet. We shared the stretch with 2 other friendly anglers who had travelled from Holland & one of them fished upstream of us & we noticed that he was regularly catching good fish on the feeder. He was joined by his fishing partner who then started to float fish the same swim & again was catching barbel constantly. Around mid-day they decided to move upstream & advised us to have a go in the swim & told me how they were catching them. I set up a float rod with 5g olivette and fished over-depth & coaxed a 12mm pellet down the swim and had the best session of my life catching quality chub & barbel to 6lb on the float. Ending up with 17 fish,11 chub & 6 barbel, (15 fish from this specific swim). Beautiful weather & friendly horses came for a drink and a visit. River extremely low, we were fishing on the river bed about 10 yards in from the natural bank. Many thanks to the Dutch anglers who graciously shared the swim & advised us on their tactics.

See other post fishing Caradoc - My mate had a good day catching 6 chub & 1 6lb+ barbel on meat & pellet hook baits using ledger tactics. With only the one swim really producing the goods, a great day on a very low & clear river.

Fished from the croy’s for a few hours and caught 5 Chub. Nothing big… 3lb or so was the biggest.
Quite a lot of weed coming through so decided not to feeder fish.

River still very low but had a good day. Feeder and float both caught barbel and chub. Pellets and meat for hook bait. Nice stretch but not as many swims as expected along the stretch, but plenty for the two of us.

Always a joy to be here here....providing you do not mind inquisitive cattle and horses....they seem to enjoy licking parked cars which is a better alternative than getting too friendly with you whilst your fishing...4 of the Barbel were small but a "good un" of 9lb capped a very enjoyable day....Trotting produced a few small Chub/Chublets and a number of Bleak which probably do not feature too high on Rods species target lists....Despite the length of the beat the swims are very limited due to the very low water and it was just as well only 2 of us fished....But a big thank you to the owners and WUF for providing us with the opportunity to fish a beautiful beat.

Fished at the end of the beat in fast shallow water. There was a lot of weed/algae in the water which interfered with the bait when using a feeder. One of us changed to trotting a stick float on meat and caught over 30 chub of various weights up to around 3lb. Barbel were caught on marine halibut pellet and various broillies with the best over 9lb. Great days fishing even with the river still very low. Great Beat

Lovely stretch of water fishing was hard due to low levels of water and not helped by our inability to move as it seems this is not just a fishery but a public beach with scores of people and there dogs swimming nearly into my swim making a lot of noise it was like heaven on Earth in the morning then descended into fishing hell from about 10am till at least 4.30pm a bit of a joke as we Piaf the high ticket price for peace and quiet not to go to Jerry carneys circus we were informed by the owner in morning that we should tell all these people to **** off her words if I had done this would have done so all day and would have been more stressful than putting up with all the racket all said and done will never return here in summer months hopefully people will read this and save themselves the same hassle we had bit of a joke

Lovely fishery and water was rising, saw a couple of salmon ! I'm disabled and didn't fish due to the in-accessablity of the swims but my "rookie" partner did. the chub were all small under1/2 lb. the other was an eel.
We fished Dean and Chapter yesterday and the beat would benefit people like with the provision of some simple boarded steps.
I appreciate the Foundation don't want to give any advice on accessiblity for fear of recourse! but they could do more and I'm sure funds are available (lottery/ DDA monies etc)

Fishing Passport Note : The Wye is a SAC and SSSI, meaning the river and its banks are highly protected under law. There are, therefore, strict limits on what can be done to improve access.
