Another hard day on the Wye before heading home. Managed 2 barbel and although conditions seemed ok the fishing this weekend has not been as good as normal. Got home to find that we had left a net at middle hill court. I'm assuming that it will be long gone but if anyone fishes there and finds a net I would really appreciate it if they would let the Wye and Usk know so they can contact me. Back again in a few weeks and hopefully the river will be back on form.

This stunning beat is always a joy to fish and the abundance of wildlife here is always an uplifting experience especially on a warm summers day !! Although we did not stay late when it usually switches on here we still managed to catch a few very hard fighting Barbel despite having low expectations. Groundbait feeder was the winning method on this occasion with both pellet and corn catching the fish.

Following the results from our previous two trips to this stretch earlier in the week where the best time had proved to be the evening, we were confident of adding several more barbel to our total having already had 6 by 4pm. However, this wasn't to be and we only caught two more during the evening period. Still a good day though with 8.12 being the best barbel. Feeder with various combinations of baits was the method used.

Despite an early start we struggled throughout the day and it was from 5:30pm that we caught the majority of fish. Low water conditions probably had something to do with the lack of action during the day. Feeder with various combinations of baits was the method used.

It was a very wet day after weeks of no rain. Packed up early as the banks became dangerous despite using ropes and spikes.

River was low with reduced flow to what we'd previously been used to. The fishing proved to be quite hard with the late afternoon/evening proving to be the most productive period. The best barbel was 8.14. Feeder with various baits was the method used.

River level very low with little oxygen. It was always going to be a struggle on a very hot and sunny day.
