Area:Ogwen
Beat:Ogwen Valley Angling Association
Fishing:All Species (in season)
No. of Anglers:2
Fished Llyn Ogwen using damsel, water level was well over the banks due to heavy rainfall, tried using nymphs at the outlet but water level was too high and turbulent from floods.
Fished Llyn Idwal using nymphs on a slow retrieve had a take and lost it, nothing else afterwards.

Blanked. Water very low. Focussed on end of beat where good foam line. Unfortunately blanket weed was horrendous and did not allow good presentation. Setting was great and it was lovely to be on the river. Will be back next month when hopefully after a good flush and river at better levels.

Arrived to find river very low with blanked weed and hardly any flow. Tried several swims that I know produces Barbel but only managed a PB for blanket weed. It's in serious need of rain to get flowing again. Pub lunch at the Inn on the Wye ready for change of tactics for the afternoon. Rolling meat on a gravel run produced 11 Barbel, best being 5lb. A good result in the end.

Beat:Foy Bridge
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:1
Second day fishing the Foy Bridge beat, tried the beach area again, had 1 Chub, a few bites but again, a lot of weed, moved back up towards the bridge trying a few swims but no bites, decided to fish opposite bank for the last few hours and started to catch a few fish, biggest Chub was 6lb on the dot, stunning fish. Caught 5 Barbel and lost around 4 more due to snags, also caught several Chub in between the Barbel. Cracking fishing!
Met the Bailiff and his dogs on the evening doing his rounds along the bank, he kindly took a pic for me of a Barbel with Foy Bridge in the backdrop. Fished the cage feeder and pellet. Will be back for sure!

River still low but in lovely condition
Fish caught on feeder, pellet and meat in a nice steady low as most of beat to shallow
I must say been to a few Wye and usk beats over the last year or so and never before have the beats been in such state. On this beat alone, there was two of us and over the entire beat, which is quite long there was really only 3/4 pegs to fish
There was trees fallen into pegs not cleared ,over grown brambles everywhere
The bottom part of the river you couldn’t even get to,it was all fenced off and you couldn’t even get to it so it wasn’t for the lack of trying
This beat not a shadow of what it was like in years gone by
I love wild fishing but some of the beats now are beyond a joke
2 Barbel, 10 Chub
