Great to be back on this stretch. Well done to Stephen the bailiff for putting ropes into the swims .
Pobably one of the most scenic stretches i have fished on the Wye. Considering the low levels bright sunshine and the cannoe challenge . Not a bad days fishing. Usual tactics Groundbait feeder and pellet

First visit to this stretch. Didn’t find any barbel but lots of chub activity in the last couple of hours with fish to 4-10 on krill boilies.

What an incredible days fishing. Fished from sunrise to an hour after dark and I reckon I'd still be catching now if allowed. The river was fairly low and clear, as others have mentioned it was useful for feature spotting. Dawn and dusk naturally produced the most sport but I caught steadily throughout the day. I could have probably caught a lot more chub in the afternoon when the barbel stopped biting but instead I walked the stretch feeding a few swims. It clearly worked as I caught from all 9 swims I tried. All fish fell to standard pellet in the feeder and pellet on the hook tactics. If I'd landed every fish I hooked I'd have easily made it to 30 barbel but one swim in particular seems to have a rather nasty snag which the barbel loved!

A quick word on the bailiff Stefan, really friendly bloke who was obliging in his knowledge of the stretch. Sure enough each swim he mentioned contained plenty of fish. And if you're reading this Stefan, I tried the swim you asked me to and had 2 chub and a barbel in fairly bright sun. I'm sure if I'd fished it at dusk it would have produced even more.

All in all an incredibly memorable days fishing. The smallest barbel was about 3 and half pound and the largest just over 8. Most fish were around the 6lb mark. Chub to 4 and a half pounds and a little six ounce jack decide he fancied the taste of pellet too.

What a fishery, what a session and what a shame I live 100 miles away!

What a bizarre day on this stretch we've fished before. Water low and dropping with a tinge of brown. We struggled all morning to catch the barbel however huge chub after huge chub graced our landing nets in all swims.
Big (and small) chub succumbed to trotting tactics too which we like to do in the middle of the day to break up the tip-watching and we had one swim rocking so much so that we shared the trotting there. Then I ticked off an item from my bucket list, landing a barbel on the stick float.
Late afternoon we went roving once more, trying all swims along the stretch and picking up a couple of smallish barbel (and more big chub). Then, as dusk fell, we dropped on a group of barbel, holding station in a random place in the river, only a matter of metres away from baited areas (but we could not get a bite on those baited areas) yet cast to where the fish were and it was a bite every few minutes. Big chub and barbel again being landed. Chub to over 5lb and barbel to over 9lb. We were still getting bites as we left at curfew time.
A cracking day.
