We struggled today, couldn’t find the barbel, although we didn’t fish into the evening. 6 Chub to 1 rod caught in both the slow and faster water swims.

Fished 12:00- 7:30 river very low, bright conditions. 1 small club on the float and one 5lb barbel last cast on pellet.

Pleasant day. Barbel came mid morning but did not show in the evening (suspect I finished in the wrong swim). Plenty of chub of all sizes up to about 4lb legering and trotting - lost track of the numbers.

2 barbel, 6lb and 7.13lb came at last knockings. Nothing through the day except a few chub. River lacking flow.

River was low but still carrying some colour. Moved swims a lot and finally found some fish feeding in mid afternoon. Lovely stretch that I have fished before. Will be back soon

Gorgeous beat rotated between swims.

Canoeists were a pain, on the whole very friendly but the longer the day went on the more drunk the groups were. We had people jumping in to the water on sight of us and making so much noise as to disturb the swims. One group even complained that they didn't know there would be anglers on the banks, even though we had no lines in the water..... Behaviour on the river is getting worse each year that I come back!
