Arrived at lunchtime with the water sitting at 2ft 10’ on the gauge , water was not too bad with visibility sitting around the 3ft mark. Worked my way through the beat from the Rock pool finishing at the tail of the Gravel run where the heavens opened up . Went back to the Rock pool around 17.00 hrs where the colour of the water was now coming in a chocolate colour. Time to pack up , nice afternoon, finishing with 5 good trout taking the tube fly , didn’t expect to see any salmon at that height , none seen .

2’ on the gauge this morning but it seemed higher with the colour persisting. Saw my first salmon of the season when a good sized fish porpoised at the top of the gravel catch. Couldn’t tempt it though.
Plenty of Shad about it seems, as I had three in four casts in the Rock pool. Packed up just after lunch as the gusty wind strengthened and the water clarity worsened still. Prospects not looking good for the next few days with more heavy rain forecast.

Arrived on the beat with friend, after a heavy downpour for most of the night, river was rising and colour was not good. Opted for a fast sink tip with a heavy tube. halfway down the pool a good take. 10lb Salmon hen fish in pristine condition.
Nice day with four trout also taking the tube fly.. Bumped into another two gentleman whom we had lunch with and talked fishy tales.
Nice to see the cooker has been replaced in the hut thank you, finished around 4pm and went back to the hut for a nice brew. Great day..
