Thunderstorms caused a lot of colour from the Trothy and Monnow. A couple of pulls, and saw a few fish. Lots of shad. Caught a very silver trout of about 2 1/2lbs in the Pipes...pretty certain it was a sewin.

No salmon showing but fish there. One good tug which did not developed and another on for ten minutes until hook pulled. Dark day so dark fly. Really enjoyed day. Beginning to colour pm.

The lower Wye valley on a warm, sunny evening in May is magnificent. The downside is that salmon are very hard to catch in this weather. 1 shad caught.

Joe couldn't have been more helpful. Saw the odd fish, and eventually caught a sea liced hen off the evening tide.

Water too high but persevered with the fly and in fact had a Salmon on briefly, alas, it came off after a few head shakes. Enjoyed the day in spite of the incessant rain. Joe the Ghillie was was very helpful, professional and good company.

Good conditions in the morning, several fish seen and covered to no effect. River rose and coloured up a lot during the afternoon forcing us to abandon fishing at 4 pm. A great beat and a very enjoyable day.

First time fishing this fabulous beat. My thanks to Joe the gillie for his advice & assistance. No fish for me, but I saw a few.

No fish at last but very beautiful beat as always. Ghillie Joe was great helpful and kind. I hope I can book again when condition is good.

Really enjoyed the beat and the gillie, unfortunately the weather was far to bright and far to hot, on a downside it was a pity there were so many people swimming on the beat with their dogs and inflatables!
