Very unsettled day weather wise. Fished from noon until 8pm without seeing any feeding fish. Fished a combination of dry flies and nymphs but to no avail. Quite a few smaller white fish showing (peal?) throughout the beat and a few salmon showing. Beautiful scenery but very difficult wading. A real pity that I had to leave early as there were lots of sedge about and I am sure there would have been a decent evening rise.

FSFF, guided 2 anglers. The river was 53F and running clear. Height 1ft 3" on the Llanstephan gauge. There was a morning hatch of grannom and trickles of large upwings occurred throughout the day. Trout and grayling rising but mostly sporadically. Total catch 6 trout and 3 grayling. Best fish 1lb 4oz brown trout. Most fish on dry flies.

A delightful day. The river looked beautiful and the primroses, cowslips, wood anemones were joined by the first bluebells (just up from the pumping station, lower beat).

Best wishes,
Free Spirit Fly Fishing

1'11" in the morning after dropping a few inches overnight. Water clear. Fished hard but nothing seen or touched. Only had the fly rod so didn't do justice to Llangoed Pool which would have been the best chance.

Fished for a few hours (oh all right then, a mere 2 ½ hours) on Friday. There were a few fish rising at the lower end, just above the Pumping Station pool, and the other fish came from Orchard. We had 8 or 9 grayling and one trout. Most action to a dry fly rather than a nymph. Water temperature was 50F.

River running high and clearing after the weekend.
Terry elected to trot and caught 5 grayling up to around the pound mark and 4 o/s brown trout. Fred ledgered a swimfeeder all day had numerous dace and small chub up to a pound or so plus 7 o/s brown trout. It was a fish every cast for Fred. (After a terrible weekend's fishing, with only one fish caught, a Barbel of 10lb 12oz to Fred at the Warren (opposite Sheephouse)) It was a relief to finally get amongst some fish. Thanks for the suggestion from Allyson & Wendy that we try the lower Llangoed stretch. Worked a treat, must fish this stretch again when the water is lower so the we can wade as well. Just a note for WUF although the water was below the red line, a canoeist decided it was o.k. for him to come down through the area we were fishing!!! He was polite and stayed the far side of the river and passed by reasonably quickly and quitely.
WUF Note: We apologise for this unacceptable breach of the canoeing arrangements by people who should know better.
