No success on upper beat. On arriving at the lower beat, a light hatch of Grannom was underway, although there were only a few very occasional rises to be seen. 1 fine trout (1lb) caught on Grannom at Llangoed pool. Further rises to Grannom 200 yds below the rapids, providing good sport. A rapid change to March Browns needed, as a strong hatch brought vigorous rises everywhere. Exciting fishing! 2 more trout of 1ib caught. Very light hatch of dark olives. 1 further 15 oz trout to a Kite's Imperial. A big trout was caught but lost as I hadn't spotted my hook had lost its tip - schoolboy error! A great afternoon's entertainment.

Fishing in my t-shirt for the afternoon, who would have thought so in Oct. Not a salmon seen or touched though. My first year salmon fishing though so the learning curve is steep. As ever a really nice stretch with some quality runs. Lots of scouting done for next time. Did catch 6 trout though, one had me wondering for a second or two.

Excellent afternoon's fishing on a positively balmy indian Summer day with temperatures hovering around the 28/29 degree centigrade mark - perfect conditions with no wind although very clear and slow running water.
Perhaps too hot and too many insects around as there were a whole host of very lazy rises until late in the evening, but unfortunately nothing interested in my butcher fly - although did see a couple of Heron and Kingfishers flying along the river.

River in great nick, very clean and a really great commune with nature.

Troublesome wind, not much fly, not many rising fish. Two trout, 8" and 10". Also a dace. I parked by the river, about 100 heifers licked my car. Had to move.

Water low and clear with a strong downstream wind. CJK had 3 undersized trout from the fast water of the rapids on a goldhead hares ear nymph and invicta. JW was fishless.

Incredibly low water for April and thus lower Llangoed very easy to fish. Early fish on a variety of nymphs and then a sporadic rise from early afternoon onwards saw plenty of offers on emergers / surface film flies. Because I don't fish rivers often a small foam beetle seemed to fit the bill - at least the fish thought so.

Upper Llangoed saw a few chub but the rapids and below is where the trout were. Saw a few early Mayfly but only 1 or 2 so of no fish consequence. Lovely day, 13 fish to 12".
