Another lovely day on this beat. Cool in the morning saw the odd salmon leaping, but all was quiet throughout the hot and bright day. There were trout rising, but easily spooked, particularly in the calm waters. Caught a salmon parr. I also saw shoals of fry - hundreds of thousands of them, and had 20 sightings of kingfishers.

Bright day, few rising fish. Only one trout caught for 2 rods.

Warm sunny (25C), windless day. Mill pond flat. 4 sub 1lb trout caught with black brass head nymph downstream in the faster water. Several 2-4lb trout seen but none taking anything. No salmon seen. I'll say it again, that this is a most beautiful beat and one that I will keep returning to.

A fine sunny day after the wet of previous days and the Usk was falling and clearing. A nice looking beat with plenty of wadable water (and very convenient parking), but no insect life and only saw 3 rises in 8 hours. However we managed 8 trout between 6 and 16 inches to downstream wets and upstream nymphs.

Nothing to report. Had to postpone our visit to the river but hope to try again soon.

Excellent service from the Foundation.

Very windy day with patchy rains. Could only fish from 5pm to 8pm. Used dry flies first, then tried some nymphs. I felt slight bites to nymphs, but could not get those. Lovely beat with plenty of fish moving around. Will return again to hopefully catch some.

Excellent days fishing on this fantastic stretch of the River Usk. Rained most of the day but plenty of rising trout which were tempted by f- flies, hoppers and terrestials and. prince nymphs Hares ears p.tn.s.. This is a secluded beat with easy access and easy wading. caught trout to 2llb and plenty of them. No Salmon seen or caught by Mr C. F. Had such a good day we have booked it for next week.

12 Trout

Wierd day, this was. On the face of it, perfect fishing. The water was moderately high, but clear. Temperature was variable. I was expecting lots of excitement, but there were next to no fish in evidence. I know this beat has lots of trout, so there's no shortage. I waited for the evening rise, but still very little happening. Not sure why. I caught two 1/2 lb browns which leapt after my fly!!

This is a lovely stretch with parking right on the river. It was a beautiful day. Tricky fishing but lovely nevertheless.

Lovely beat but nothing really moving over whole stretch. Local guide was also surprised how quiet it was. Later caught one WBT about 8in on hairs ear. Lovely place shame was a bit quiet.
