River shot up after lunch. Spotted a couple of mink at the far end of the beat.

4 brown trout caught & returned. Another 3 lost . All around 8"-10". Flies used size 12 soft hackled wet ( March brown) &
Small bead head nymph size 16.

Unfortunately the coloured run off from the Irfon which was in flood the previous day, made fishing very difficult

First time on the Monnow - gorgeous. Mixed bag of weather - sun, cloud, warm, cold, rain and stiff breeze at times. Winkled a decent grayling from the depths and a lovely little trout on a dry. Most activity at the downstream end of the beat.

6 rainbows and two browns caught all brown’s return unharmed caught on worm off bottom weather was showery with a light breeze started at 8am finished at 14.30

River up a little and some colour after yesterday's rain but very few flies about and no consistent rises. Only fished for 3 hours up to midday resulting in 4 lovely small trout from deeper pockets using weighted nymphs.

Felt a bit chilly windy when I got there and the water a bit chilly and cloudy. Only one half hearted rise seen and the odd yellow mayfly seen before they got eaten by birds.
