First time in a river this year! Beautiful warm day, river very clear. 2 small trout (6"-8") returned in good condition. First one taken on a Black Pennell and the second on a PTN Hares Ear. No risings seen, small occasional hatches. A lovely day for fishing though.

Five trout caught, largest 14 inches all decent fish. Point to note: The roadway down to the last gate has some very large holes in it and will need filling after this winter.

Not a nice day weather wise. Windy, wet and cold at times. Not many fish rising. We fished only dry flies and had quite a few chances and fish on but never brought one to hand.

Just a lovely day on a wonderful beat. This one has become a regular for us. It was a very bright day with water clear enough to put a slide of lemon in. Very little surface activity reflecting a dribbly and varied hatch. Upstream methods were tried and found to be unsuccessful - although on a day such as this it didn’t seem to matter that much. Reverting to downstream nymphs produced a series of takes and eventually a couple of fish, initially at the bottom and then again at the top. Fished the top and bottom but not the middle. All fish to assorted versions of gold head PTN.
Kingfishers, wagtails, dippers, buzzards and all manner of other creatures to keep us company and amused.
