Always so nice to fish Bugeilyn, nice breeze down the Llyn, bit of sun. Lots of fly life and rising trout. Fished usual small black dries and had plenty of action in the morning. Change of weather in the afternoon with heavy rain meant a bit of pulling wets, still bagged a few more.

Very wet and windy.
All fish off east side as wind too strong to fish other bank.
All on retrieve with Kate McLaren bumble, half hog and any gold bodied fly best. Largest around 10 oz
Fish generally taking 4-6 inches down. Very little off the top.

What a place to fish proper WBT, we had a chilly south east wind first thing , but when the sun came out it draw the fish to the top ,my fishing partner fished all-day with various dry flies but the normal small black dry fly did the business
I stuck to my normal bibio never fails me up there , highlight of the day was fishing while a osprey was hovering over the llyn what a sight

Made our annual visit to Bugeilyn this time with a third angler who was new to fly fishing. Despite the northerly wind direction the weather was dry fairly warm with sunshine for most of the afternoon.

Initially with little wind the fish were right in the margins inches from the bank feeding on small black flies with several caught on silver invicta and small tadpole flies. Around the same time last year we noted dead frogs in the lake and reckoned tadpoles could be on the diet.

As the wind increased the fish move out and most were taken just under the surface mainly on small black flies and the tadpole pattern.

Great opening to our season especially as we had not been able to do any winter grayling fishing due to high river levels.

As we left the lake we believe we saw a pair of hen harriers flying around the new barn by the derelict farm house.

Very blustery and rainy day but the fish were very obliging with 17 trout to hand and as many again either missed or plucks. Most fish were just sub surface but a few were tempted off the top with a Griffiths Gnat. Main fly of the day was Coch Y Bunndu with a dark brown wet with a bronze body, fished on a very slow retrieve. It was a battle with the weather but loved every minute of it, see you next season.

Beautiful day out in such a wild place with several splashy bites to sedge hogs and one lovely 10inch brownie taken on a orange nymph with slow figure of eight retrieval. Difficult getting around the edge due to boggy conditions but a wonderful day out and the weather was pleasant mild overcast with some sunny spells and light wind. But more ripple might have helped as once wind dropped a bit the surface action ceased. I only managed to fish the bank with the Christmas tree. My first trip here so I will be back to have another crack and hopefully give the other bank a try

The forecast said "gentle breeze". It was not gentle! The wind was so strong I struggled to stand up at times! I persevered, having to double haul my 7 weight just to get out 15 - 20 feet into the frothing white capped water. Then, halfway through a double haul, the rod I've owned for 35 years snapped as I cast!
I gave up.
Am I the first person to blank on this stunning water?
