Started fishing at 08:30 and weather was misty and wet, wind was moderate and from the South. First fishing point was on the West bank opposite the small island. Saw a few fish rising but couldn't see any flies about as it was so wet. Fished in several locations along the West bank using wet fly and dry fly but didn't have any takers. After about an hour all went quiet, nothing rising. Weather cleared early afternoon but still no sign of fish. Gave up at 5pm. Most disappointing was the amount of rubbish left by previous visitors to the West bank.

Tough day, very bright with a strong gusty wind that wouldn't settle in any direction. Picked up one 3/4 pound brownie with a Bibio on the point, using a sink tip and fishing from the Dam. Was disappointed to find a lot of litter about at Beacons (probably as its easily seen and accessible from the road), two young lads turned up to fish with a bubble float and spinner as well, but were sent on their way.

My first attempt at fly fishing and I didn't catch anything. Sunny day with a breeze from the south west. Couple of hatches during the afternoon with trout topping but out in the middle of the reservoir. Lots of small fish, up to an inch long, in the margins.
Difficult to fish due to the vegetation and steepness of the banks but it is all a learning curve.
I'm sure I'll be back at some point and hope to at least get a bite next time!

We only fished for 30 minutes as the bank was inaccessible, the water was full of weed, and even with a hatch, we did not see a fish or a sign of a fish in the two hours it took to walk round. Waste of time and money.

The day was downcast with frequent showers, however, still a warm day. No fish rising and no indication of any hatch.
Beautiful setting, although care must be taken due to wet and slippery bank - also lots of pot holes covered by grass and some rather difficult terrain on the opposite bank.
Casting was very difficult - great for short cast, but to get out over 15 meters, false cast will be hooked up either by trees or over grown shrubs (lost 5 flies, but did manage to find one hooked up on my boot).
Great location for tube fishing, more likely to find the fish; otherwise fish finder would be a great tool.
All in all had a great workout traversing around the muddy lake, throw back to my army days running up and down the Beacons.
No fish caught; would I fish there again? Most likely, especially either early morning or sun set when a hatch is happening close to the bank.

Tough. Hot and sunny, large reservoir. Tried all tactics to no avail. Nothing happening all day and most of the evening. We had lost the will to live by 8pm, knowing we were likely leaving an hour or two too early.

1 small brown trout on a buzzer nymph returned, very heavy rain and quite breezy. when I arrived i saw 5 Eastern Europeans fishing they was not using flies they were spinning I could not phone the emergency line as I didn't have a signal, they left after about 20 mins and 3 of them had bags that were full of fish. I know you cannot patrol 24/7 but on the last 4 times I have been fishing I have yet to see a ranger. Poaching is going to kill this Reservoir just like they killed Cantref.
WUF Note: This report has been passed to Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water. We hope that they will be able to step up ranger patrols at this reservoir.
