A couple of hours with the feeder rod at dawn made me realise that legering wasn't going to be productive so I "mountaineered" (you'll understand this is you've fished this beat - it certainly gets the blood pumping) back to the car to change gear and set about a day of trotting.

The forecast of an overcast, drizzly day was way off the mark as I stood surveying a very low river in the blazing sunshine. I thought I was in for a gruelling day. However, I roved the stretch and tried several swims, catching plenty of chub and barbel on the stick float. What a fantastic way to fish for them.

Chub from chublets to 4lb and barbel from 4 1/2 to 7 1/2 llb.

This is a lovely beat, fantastic scenery. We caught plenty of Chub and some Barbel from the more oxygenated water. All on either meat or pellets. The river is very low but all fish were in good condition and fought well. Just before dark a barn owl was hunting in the meadow adjacent to the river. We had a great day. Thanks W&U.

An enjoyable day in some lovely surroundings. Fished pellet and corn with the former the more successful bait.

A good day in tough conditions, when I found the fish I had regular bites throughout the afternoon evening

Love this stretch of river, conditions not great with water levels very low and not much flow, started the day at the top of the beat in the faster water, lots of chub caught and 2 nice barbel biggest approx 8lb. All fell to feeder and pellet or bollie. Moved down stream later on and caught some nice chub as the light faded. Such a pleasure to fish this river and once again left with huge smiles on our faces.

3 of us fished and caught throughout the length of the beat. Water was low and fish came all throughout the day. Lost quite a few fish too and should have perhaps caught more. Biggest barbel 9.5, biggest chub 4.5. All on feeder.

Bright day with gusty downstream wind. Water v low. Only second visit here so for newbies would add following to beat description. The lane to the beat is adjacent to the church, not opposite it. Access is definitely not suitable for anyone with any mobility issues (knees/hips etc) as from parking to river is v steep and narrow path and once there some of the swims are fished from slightly precarious stances. You will lose some gear and you need to embrace your inner canoeist. Really good day with fish spread out a bit. Also a v big eel, prob 3lbs. Picturesque, kingfishers and other wildlife. Will be back for sure.

River very low in places and limited bank access. would benefit from another 1 or 2 pegs to make it easier to get access to water. Agree with other comments to travel light as walk from car park is steep and could be slippery in wet weather. Barbel and chub showing in late afternoon/early evening. Double figure barbel and 2 pound chub. Both on pellet.
