River up and coloured, looked great but fishing was fairly slow during the day, the evening proved fruitful though with a few bites and barbel up to 7lb! Fished this beat a while back and really enjoyed it, the quietest stretch of the Wye I've ever fished, will certainly be back!

The tough conditions continued today. We had to wait until the last hour for bites, when RW caught a 6lb barbel and 4lb chub in the first swim.

Travelled down from Yorkshire today so only fished from 5-7.30pm. 40mins of that was spent sheltering under the trees snapped off...

Checked the weather before making the descent and light rain showers were forecast. Just a short evening session, light showers and a big hill - waterproofs it is... mistake, big mistake.

We just got cast out then the heavens opened, and didn't stop for the best part of an hour. Fishing was very difficult and I snapped off on a rock playing my first barbel. I then had 5 casts in a row where I snapped off in rocks. When the rain finally ceased everything including us was absolutely soaked. Got cast out again and lost another barbel to a hook pull. It looked like a blank was on the cards but then the fish started feeding well. I ended up with 2 barbel around 6lb and my dad had 6, the biggest being a new pb of 9lb 6oz. It was a long slog back up the hill with everything soaked but it was worth it!!
