It's been some time since I fished this beat and the beauty still astounds me almost as much as how quiet it is here. A lot more swims prepared too so will be returning no doubt. The river level was up by 4 to 5ft, a raging torrent strewn with weed, branches etc which perpetually fouled the line. Got soaked several times scouting other swims - funny how when I stepped out from beneath the brolly to do that the heavens opened!? No bites let alone a catch to report but will be trying again at earliest sensible opportunity.
It's gorgeous here....

Lovely looking beat, however with water low and constant weed flowing through we drew a complete blank. We knew we were a day too soon for the heavy rains of the previous 36hrs to kick in.

A very hot day combined with a low river level resulted in a poor catch return. Because of the water level the only swim we could safely fish was the croy right at the end of the beat.

We had 4 barbel between us on a very tricky, hot and sunny day. There was lots of weed coming down and prolific weed growth throughout this stretch, which only made it harder. All this said, we still had a great day.

Traveling day so just fished the evening on the Croy through til dark. A very pleasant evening but a little hard. Some of the new cut swims downstream are now nettled over. Travel light. Barbel to 7:6

Second day on this tranquil beat and despite the bank holiday there was not too much boat traffic and those who did pass were all courteous once they were aware of somebody fishing.A slow day in the heat but still very enjoyable with feeder and pellet being the method.
