A very nice secluded stretch of river. The access along the old railway line was fine, a little tending to the bramble bushes made it better. We fished downstream and baited with hemp and pellets and had one barbel from first swim and then nothing from a second.
My friend spotted some barbel cleaning themselves opposite one of the islands so we fished for those on 10mm pellets, just putting in 5 pellets after each fish. We shared one rod and took turns to end the day with 14 barbel between 4lbs and 6.5lbs. We cleaned lots of lice from the barbel we caught.
Nice wildlife including stoat, pair of kingfishers, buzzards and woodpeckers.
Always a good idea to put the combination padlocks on the correct way up so the next person can read the numbers easily.
Thankyou Wye and Usk.

7 barbel to 9lbs and 4 chub to 4lbs between the two of us. The fishing was quite slow with brief periods of action and long periods of catching nothing. However, there is always something to watch on this lovely beat - and buzzards and kingfishers brightened the day. Canoeists were friendly and well behaved - and clearly enjoyed their day as much as we did ours.

No fish caught, mainly due to approx 10 anglers fishing the best pegs from the far bank. The farmer is apparently selling day tickets for his bank and undercutting the price charged by the foundation.

Scorching sunny day with cloudless sky's. River low and clear, beautiful stretch although vehicle access down track could do with a trim. Enjoyable social fishing, 17 pristine barbel up to 8.5lbs and 5 Chub up to 4.12lbs. Pellet feeders, alternating between type of pellet and hook length.

A new beat for me and what a lovely place. River pushing through quite strongly with a lot of rubbish in the flow. Managed to find a fairly protected area and took 9 barbel and 2 chub between us for the day. Barbel to 8lb 7oz, with a new pb of 6lb 2oz for my friend. All taken on pellet.

River was high, fast and coloured but just about fishable. No fish landed, but one hooked and lost towards the end of the day. This is a lovely beat with lots of wildlife - that and the anticipation of an eternal optimist made it a very enjoyable day.

The river was all but impossible to fish but perseverance paid off. A beautiful stretch of the Wye. I will definitely return.
