Feeder fished corn, meat and pellets. Fishing was excellent despite low water. Unfortunately had to leave early as a large brummy family decided they would ignore the 'fishing permit holders only' sign and decided to swim/jump/throw things in the river by the bridge.

Arrived 12ish overcast and a few spots of rain, fished swim road side, mid river with straight link lead, size 8 barbless and corn and spam on the hook, loose feeding corn and hemp.
Constantly fed and had Barbel first cast of about 5lbs kept loose feeding and took 3 Chub in succession to 4lbs then the sun appeared and it died a death, took a walk to end swim and fed with the same ....(for a bit of trotting later) ...tried some meat in original swim again, instant reply from a 2lbs + Eel and then another and another ...re-tackle time twice !! Back to the corn and it payed off with another 3 Barbel over the next hour. Moved down to end swim around 4-30 fed corn and hemp and trotted single grain under a Dave Harrell stubby waggler took 4 old gold warrior Chub to 4.5lbs.....lovely day again and a nice chat with the beat owner to round it off. Left 6:30 as sun was low and even with sunglasses seeing the float was near impossible.....learn't a bit in the clear waters feeding chub and Barbel off the bridge, with trout pellet before I left.

The river was low and the weather was bright with plenty of Sunshine. Sweetcorn and meat accounted for 7 chub during the afternoon from various swims. Settled down to try for barbel and managed a couple, but had to wait until 7pm with the light starting to fade.
Finally, well done to the owners for providing plenty of accessible swims on this short but beautiful stretch of river.

Arrived at midday to see river low and clear. Managed a couple of chub by the Bridge on light legered sweetcorn and a luncheon meat. Saw a couple of barbel off the bridge but the chub were keener and took the bait first.
Met the beat owner who was very helpful and moved to a deeper swim which was quiet until about six pm when traditional tactics of legered meat and sweetcorn cocktail saw seven chub landed up to 5 pounds 9 ounces and a barbel of around six pounds. A surprise eel on sweetcorn finished the session to the extent that my Labrador saw it and fell in with shock at such an unruly specimen!!!

Great days fishing. All fish caught on feeder with pellet hookbaits, biggest chub in excess of 6lb and biggest barbel over 10lb. No exact weights were recorded as fish fought very hard, and was more important to make sure of safe return. Very nice enjoyable day!!!

Arrived at 6am and was pleasantly surprised to spot a couple of Barbel and a Chub from the bridge. Fished the roadside stump peg on fishmeal and corn feeder. After a quiet start we soon started catching chub with just the odd Barbel thrown in. Having fished this beat before I knew that resting the swim for a couple of hours usually helps so we went to the bottom limit and freelined meat in the fastest water. Within half an hour we had 5 chub on this method so went for a wander on the opposite bank. Was treated to a display of a dozen or so barbel spawning in the shallow fast glide - was a pleasure to witness and solved the problem of why the Barbel were not playing ball. Back in the original swim the fishing picked up in the afternoon and we finished with 26 Chub between 1lb and 4.05 and 4 barbel to 5.13. All but five on Sweetcorn. Great day in a fantastic place

Very limited stretch due to lack of any depth and the pacey water, but made the best of it with 5 chub, 1 trout and a little salmon parr. The first 2 chub came from the downstream back eddy on the left bank to maggot feeder tactics. The next three fell to float fished maggots from the right bank near the bridge. Biggest fish might have just shaded 4lb.

Beautiful stretch of the Wye, fast water but quite shallow below the bridge giving an ideal spot to chest wade and present the fly in the water.
You can fish this beat in less than 2 hours. I combined this with my day at Backney to supplement my day.
Thank you.
