Started fishing at 4pm, feeder fishing halibut pellets and hemp. Not a lot happened until 7pm when started to get knocks but no proper bites. Changed to sweetcorn and hooked a 7lb 10oz barbel. Added 3 Chub to 3lb, plus a couple of lost fish. River low and clear, very good access to swims paths cut and steps down to river.

Lovely evening session at Foy Bridge. First time I have fished this beat and had an enjoyable time catching 2 Barbel and a small Chub. Lost three good fish to the snag 2/3 of the way down the beat on the right hand bank.

Despite getting soaked - twice - a very productive day! The work on the swims is excellent, so thanks to the landowner - who has also removed the big snag that used to hamper landing fish on the bottom swim on the near bank. Fished 3 swims - 2 on the far bank (the very bottom and just up from the large tree) and the bottom swim on the near bank - and had barbel & chub from them all. Fish were all caught on 2 x 8ml or 10ml elipse pellets with either micro pellets in a closed end feeder or groundbait & pellets in a cage feeder. Also big thanks to the local who gave me the tip on where to fish the swim above the tree (45 degrees downstream, towards the tree stump and 2/3rds out). One thing to be aware of is that the juvenile ducks will take your bait later in the day. I managed to hook one on small pellets, but was thankfully able to get him in, wrap him in a towel and remove the hook - hopefully he will have learnt, but be wary of them. Barbel were from 4.5lb to 8.5lb, including one fish with a lot of predator damage, and chub from 3lb to just under 6lb. A VERY good day on a much improved beat.

The barbel are still spawning (I observed this one evening on the camp site I was staying at) so I think they are two to three weeks behind due to the low Spring/early Summer temperatures. Fished all day around a now famous snag that lost me more hooks than leads so this seems to be a sunken tree and the barbel are under it. After the first cast leading to a slamming bite and a tug of war around the snag which I subsequently lost, the rest of the day I only got the the odd knock, then I had one barbel over 7lb on pellet. Unfortunately could not fish the last two hours of light.

The morning drizzle relented around lunchtime but with the water still very cold, it proved to be a challenging day. Despite our best efforts with pellet, maggot, cheese-paste and meat, there were few signs of fish, with the barbel remaining elusive throughout the day. C H did, however, manage to entice 3 chub, all perfectly conditioned fish weighing 3lb 2oz, 3lb 9oz and 3lb 12oz. Two out-witted by a small halibut pellet and one by luncheon meat.
Great to see the darting kingfishers and soaring buzzards (less happy to see at least 3 cormorants overhead through the day). Overall, as always, a day on the river was good for the spirit.

Bright sunny day, river near normal levels and clear but still pushing through. Took temp of water around 6-7 deg, chose to fish first swim over the foot bridge. Fed the head of the swim (from behind the willow) with 2 balls of heavy halibut ground bait laced with small pre-soaked micro pellets, gave this 20mins to work down into the swim. Fished over this with hair rigged elipse pellets for 3 hrs with out a touch. A change of bait resulted in 2 small salmon par and a 1.5lbs chub. Went back on the feeder and pellet and at aprx 5-30pm took a 4-5lb chub. Lovely to be out and warm in the sun even though fishing was slow.
