First time on this stretch and started in top pegs by parking but nothing showing apart from a grayling and odd chub. Walked to bottom field and chub were feeding despite the frosty day. Caught on mixture of pellet meat and corn.

10 x grayling 6-14 inches plus 2 x out of season trout. River high but clear. Slow work totting slack water on the inside of a bend. One of the trout had just eaten a salmon parr which it coughed out into the net. .

Conditions seemed good but only one small chub to show for a lot of effort. Disappointing

Had a very enjoyable and cold day at Middle hill court fishing with a few good friends fishing was slow with a really nice Chub of 5lb 8oz and Barbel of 6lb 1oz for my friends a blank for myself . The Wye gets into your bones it was stunning yesterday with the last leaves of summer falling, with river still pushing through after the recent floods.

Back on my favourite Wye beat. Forecast said a mild breeze, but I was met by a stiff cold downstream wind. Had intended to nymph fish but the wind put paid to that. Trotted red maggot the alternative. Had 12 o.o.s. trout from various spots, all between 12-18 inches, and in very fine fettle. Eventually found some grayling shoaled up in some deeper water. Managed to land 8, like peas in a pod between 12-13 inches. Lost 2 larger ones at the net. The 1 "other" was a small salmon parr.

On first arrival I scattered a flock of about 20 FEB's. Wildlife highlight was a pair of kites chasing each other over the valley for most of the day.

12 Trout, 8 Grayling, 1 Other
