Well you don't usually see Kingfishers while at work so to see two was a bonus. Sadly the Kingfishers were more numerous than the fish; again!

Low water and no action forced us downriver from usual spot not far from steps but no joy in the deeper faster run either.

First time on this beat and as usual, I started by walking the stretch. Sadly the river had coloured overnight, so this wasn’t very helpful, but good to see the lie of the land.

Fished a few of the top swims to start with and managed to hook a very strong fish that just held very deep for a long time. Was expecting a monster, but it turned out to be a barbel of about 4lbs hooked in the tail. Managed an old looking chub of about 3lbs, then moved to the cattle drink swims in the meadow below the car park to try some trotting . There were lots of anglers on the opposite bank, so I only really had one swim on offer, but managed a small chub. I moved back to the woods for the evening and managed a large eel 2.5lbs+ and then a beautiful 9lb barbel. All fish caught on pellets/corn/meat.
A great day and I look forward to returning.

Three fish with pellet and feeder in low water conditions including a stunning 10lb Barbel taken in the evening. Another magical stretch of the beautiful wye making it a memorable day.
