I only fished the first swim under the power lines, (having read earlier reports) and feel I made the right decision. The barbel are late this year, only just spawning at the end of June. I was therefore delighted to catch a real beauty of about 10lb, (I'm more interested in getting the fish back in the water than weighing it!) The chub put up a spirited show and a good sized salmon in the nearby pool was on show all day.
The barbel was taken free-lining a large lump of luncheon meat down stream, the chub on a variety of pellets and meat. An excellent day.
The parking instructions are a bit suspect, otherwise all was good from the WUF.

River very low, only 3 nice chub for me, but PC banked a pristine 9lbs barbel, otherwise very difficult. Guy salmon fishing from boat with outboard engine was bit of a pain.

WUF note - The salmon angler was not on a WUF ticket.

Fishing at the top of the stretch under the power lines we had four Barbel between 7 and 8 1/2 pounds and three Chub all about 4 pounds. All taken on feeder tactics and were in pristine condition. The river was in what I would presume to be 'normal' condition for this time of year and wasn't rising or falling. A very enjoyable opening day.

Last of 3 days on the Wye, returning to Wyastone leys after a day in between at How Caple. General conditions remained good for time of year. Fished from around 09.30 to around 14.00. No action at all. Probably not helped by chain saws, tree felling and general commotion on opposite bank as club prepared the section for Salmon anglers by destroying bankside cover. Not the most peaceful days fishing we have enjoyed on the Wye.

Very tough day, we went in high hopes of the milder recent weather bringing the barbel on to feed but we were wrong!! Tried several swims from the power lines down, with various hook baits but couldn't get a touch. Right at the end, NC had a pike follow his feeder and it subsequently grabbed a plug the first time of asking (glad I bought a tiny bit of pile gear with such an occurrence in mind). I think we probably needed about two weeks of better weather rather than two days. And with the current forecast, it looks like it will be next season before I venture this way again. Thanks to all at WUF, directions and service all first class as usual, just a shame the fish weren't playing ball!

First day of a 3 day trip, very wet and difficult to safely access many swims. However, for the time of year had a great morning and early afternoon session with 6 Barbel all of similar 'stamp', maybe a shade over 8 lb range (not weighed). All in great condition.

Not a very good day only two chub and a roach of about one pound lots of rubbish in the river due to rain. Will be back in better conditions.

Unfortunately heavy overnight rain wrecked the day with water levels rising fast and more rain coming. Fished through the morning, caught nothing. Got a bit dangerous so packed up early but I will be back.

Conditions were borderline unfishable with high water level and ferocious push from the overnight rain but we managed one 11 lbs barbel on pellet. Otherwise nothing.
