Tricky wind. 1 x grayling and 1 x trout caught - both around 10" and taken on a GRHE. Fish rose to the dry but didn't connect. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The weather was foul (heavy rain and blustery wind) but the fishing was surprisingly good. The surroundings are simply stunning and the river is wonderful. Oh and the fish?! Despite my bungling efforts and the awful conditions 2 WBT came to the net (both about 9 inches) - one to a spangly nymph and one to a klink. The rain did stop eventually and there was a modest evening rise with most fish taking emergers. Lost a grayling that what would have been a PB by a long way. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to make the trek again - sorry darling!

A day of sun and heavy showers and cool - only 10 deg by late afternoon. Enough fish rising to keep the interest up all the time I was there. Olives, sedges and midges especially just after the rain and a few mayflies.
6 browns to just over a pound and one small grayling - all on a dry fly.

16 WBT plus quite a few grayling. Good average size of trout, biggest 14", grayling biggest 10". Had to work quite hard for the fish but better weather than earlier in the week, less wind and warmer made a difference with a fair few flies including mayflies, but lots of rises seemed to be to emergers. Most caught on small klinkhammers, Adams and the odd big mayfly pattern.
Shared a lovely day with a heron, herd of bullocks, a mink and a very nice gentleman who apparently had permission to fish for grayling from the "colonel".

Water low. Each rod caught two fish (grayling and chub) (2 grayling). Caught on CDC olive nymphs. Our first time at this fishery. We had an excellent day and will return soon to try and land the very large fish lost from one the the fine runs.

Arrived at the river for what was to be the last of the Mayfly days, had the Mayfly not been and gone earlier than usual this year, to what I hoped was better conditions. Especially as I was guiding a chap that had not fished since childhood.

When we arrived at the river the persistent wind was gone!! Phhhew!! And I saw, for the first time in a week, a Mayfly.
It is amazing how even after what seems like an improvement of conditions the fishing can still be so tough. We started off with some casting then moved on to dry fly fishing. Missing quite a few fish, eventually towards then end of the afternoon it all fell into place and we found a real cracker of a fish and low and behold it was feeding on emerging Mayflies. A quick change of flies to a suitably coloured Klink, a well aimed cast, a big splashy rise as the fish took the offering with gusto and it was a well deserved fish on!! After what seemed like a long fight we brought a fantastic 18 incher to the net. Well Done!!

A very similar day to to the 28th, Blustery with a few olives coming of but no mayflies to speak of. Again we caught around the same number of Grayling as Brown Trout, 12 or so of each all coming to a small F Fly.

Booked as a day's mayfly fishing for two of my regulars. There were very few mayfly about but plenty of BWO's. The guys had a great day catching 11 BT and about the same number of out of season Grayling.
