Weather sunny and warm. 3 x Grayling up to about 11ins caught on black gnat and grey duster.
However only about 10% of the beat is really fishable. This being due to barbed wire, electric fencing, thick foliage and fallen/overhanging trees. A shame, because this is a really beautiful and prolific stretch of the river Lugg.

Previous comments about the overgrowth are accurate but it does go some way to providing a very natural feeling piece of river. Today we were assisted by a strong wind which helped to flatten some of the nettles. The bottom pool after the weir provided almost all the Grayling. Found fish in most likely looking pools.

Although the catch return would suggest I've had a productive day, the opposite is true. All today's fish were pretty much caught from one pool. I would estimate that 80% of the water is unreachable. I'm 6 3" and I have been stung in the face trying to get to fishable swims.????

£60 fuel on top of ticket. Won't be back I'm afraid.

Very overgrown, which makes getting to the river and into it very difficult.

Slow day on the Lugg, very few hatches and even fewer rises. All fish taken from slow pools on a black nymph suspended under a clinkhammer, which felt like still water fishing. I tried hard to get a fish from some of the faster runs, but not a touch.

Great fun - mostly smaller fish (6 inches) but the best trout was about 12 inches. All taken on dry flies in faster water or near the weed beds halfway down the beat. Will be back again!

First time at fly fishing. Chose this beat as I knew from a previous winter grayling session that there were some good clear areas where I could have unimpeded casting. There were a few fish rising to Mayflies and despite my ineptness I managed to catch a brown trout of about 8 inches on a Mayfly imitation. A few others had a good look but didn’t take it down. Looking forward to the next trip.

Beautiful day on a lovely stretch of water. Bright sunshine and a prolific hatch throughout the day. All fish caught on the dry and varied in size from 6" to 10".
